The Thirty Year’s War began with Protestants revolting against Catholic domination in Bohemia, an historical region in today’s Czech Republic.
Gustavus Adolphus joined the fight late in the game, but headed the formidable Swedish military machine that many Catholic armies fell before.
Gustavus has been considered as great a general as Alexander the Great, and he animated his armies by example, exceeding all other armies in tactics, organization, and arms.
Our Hero, Malcolm Graham, is a Scotsman fighting under Gustavus. He meets other leaders, Mackay, Hepburn, and Munro, goes undercover as a clock maker, confronts rebellions peasants, and marries the lovely and gracious Thelka.
